The ONE WORD in Healthcare
Baptist Hospital of Cocke County is a 74 bed general acute care facility which is part of the Baptist Health System of East Tennessee. Through its advanced diagnostic and treatment capabilities, Baptist is dedicated to providing area residents the best health care possible. Approximately 100 full and part-time physicians offer services in a wide variety of medical specialties.

Emergency Care
The Emergency Department provides round-the-clock services. Equipped to handle both critical and cardiac care, the seven-bed unit includes a trauma area. The Emergency Room is staffed with qualified nursing personnel with Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification.

Maternal/Infant Care Unit

Special care for your baby....here in Newport! The focal points of our unit include: maternity suites offering all the comforts of home, certified staff with specialized training, and up to date medical equipment for the safe birth of your baby. Free CRIB classes (childbirth classes) are offered to those delivering at BHCC.
Surgery
The hospital's Surgical unit has three operating suites and a ten-bed Day Surgery Unit. Each month between 150 and 300 surgeries are preformed. Using laparoscopic equipment, physicians can perform a variety of procedures that allow patients to have quicker recovery times, less scarring and shorter hospital stays.

Physical Therapy
A wide range of services for both inpatients and outpatients are offered by the hospital's Physical Therapy Department. Treatments including traction, ultrasound, whirlpools, electrical stimulation, massage and exercise programs are designed to assist patients with regaining functional independence.

Critical Care Unit
A new Critical Care Unit allows more specialty surgery to be preformed with less transfer of patients to medical facilities in larger cities. Qualified nursing personnel work in CCU to provide continuous medical care with the latest technology.

Imaging
A modern Imaging Department provides general radiography, CT, general and cardiovascular ultrasound, nuclear medicine and mobile MRI services. The Mammography Department is fully accredited by the American College of Radiology. Staffed 24-hours-a-day, approximately 30,000 procedures are preformed each year.

Pharmacy
The Pharmacy department is staffed by pharmacists and technicians with advanced training and certification. The fully-computerized pharmacy serves as a drug information center for physicians, nursing staff and area clinics. The pharmacy provides complete IV services prepared in a state-of-the-art IV room. Patient discharge counseling and consultation are preformed by pharmacy staff.

Respiratory Care
Respiratory Therapy Department services include stress testing, halter monitors, life support, EEGs, ECGs, aerosol and oxygen therapy, arterial blood gas analysis and pulmonary function testing.

Pastoral Care
The Chaplain is available to provide religious counseling and guidance to patients and family members.

Laboratory
More than 60,000 clinical assays using the most modern instrumentation and equipment are preformed in the Laboratory annually. General routine procedures include cholesterol screenings, coagulation studies and hemotologic test. General chemistry procedures are offered as well as cardiac, liver and lipid profiles.
