| Newport Housing Authority's Mission Statement is: |
To serve the citizens of Newport, and Cocke County, Tennessee by:
- Providing well maintained affordable housing in a safe environment
- Revitalizing and maintaining neighborhoods
- Forming effective partnerships to maximize social, educational and economic opportunities
This mission shall be accomplished by fiscally responsible, creative organization committed to excellence in public service.

| The NHA owns and operates 383 apartments consisting of one to four bedroom including handicap accessible units |
| The NHA is federally subsidized agency operating under HUD regulations and federal statues and is an Equal Opportunity agency |
| The NHA provides rental housing for low-income citizens of Newport and Cocke County, TN.; rent based on income |
| The NHA offers tenant representation through the Resident Council organization and social and educational programs utilizing VISTA Volunteers |
| Leon Bryant, Executive Director, has served since January, 1971 |
The Board is appointed by the Mayor and presently consists of the following members:

Vida Ivy Bell is the NHA Attorney. |
| The Board meets the third Monday of each month at noon at the main office, 375 Alex Street: all meetings are open to the public. |
